VIDEO: Jeremy Evans wins Slam Dunk Contest

The slam dunk contest definitely isn't what it used to be and the NBA instituted a new fan vote (instead of judges) to determine the winner.

This year's winner was Utah's Jeremy Evans, who replaced New York's Iman Shumpert.

Evans won with 29 percent of the fan vote and here are his dunks from last night:

Here's an in-game dunk, although called an offensive foul on Evans, over Portland's Gerald Wallace that was pretty sweet:

When I was a kid, I loved watching the slam dunk contest. Although Evans' second dunk was really nice, the contest no longer has the appeal (to players and fans alike) that is used to have.

As great as it is to see players dunk in games over defenders, maybe they should introduce a real defender (not just a teammate) into the mix with the goal trying to dunk over someone else.

Or just get rid of the contest altogether.

Irsay tweets about Peyton (again)

Colts owner Jim Irsay had previously stated that Peyton Manning's future with the franchise has more to do with the four-time MVP's health and less to do with money.

Specifically, Manning is due a $28 million roster bonus on March 8th, which is five days before the new league year (and free agency) starts.

Irsay tweeted on Saturday (via Pro Football Talk): "Not sure why some speculate that Peyton n I haven’t met in person recently..we’ve met in person n communicated frequently n last week or so."

As PFT notes, for someone that wants to keep things in house, Irsay is communicating about it in public quite a bit.

With it being a virtual lock that the Colts draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first overall pick, I can't imagine Manning being on the roster on March 9th.

With that said, will Manning play football in 2012 and, if so, for whom?
